Extra! Extra! Read all about it!
I am excited to share with you that I am participating in the 2009 Dusk2Dawn Evening Walk.
Dusk2Dawn is a powerful evening walk taking place the night of September 26, 2009.
This decision to participate in the walk was inspired by my recent trip to South Africa, where I met amazing people, some of who were stricken with AIDS. I met Johanna, who quit her job to go around talking to bed-ridden community members. I met Lydia, who in the face of adversity remained so sweet and positive. I met Priscilla, who takes are of so many children. I met Kate, who took off work to bring my broken camera to a shop. I met Mandla, who has been working to educate his community and reduce the social stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS. I met the children in the Rainbow After-school program, I toured a clinic, and at church on Sunday, I listened to the most beautiful, most powerful voices I have ever heard. Due to the inspiration of the people of Guguletu, South Africa, I will work for positive change on behalf of others.
This amazing event will benefit those living with HIV/AIDS in Minnesota and South Africa by supporting the charities Arm In Arm In Africa and Open Arms of Minnesota. To help, I've set my personal fundraising goal and that's where you come in...
